On the outside, the Graphyte is aggressively styled. The GMC design language, strongest on the Canyon midsize pickup, has been taken to the next level by incorporating minimal front and rear overhangs (enabling high approach and departure angles) into a design that features a sleeker, more aerodynamic cabin profile. The concept was created and built in Coventry, England by GM Advanced Studios under lead designer, Simon Cox.

sloping roofline juxtapose upright and in-your-face front and rear detailing. A metal-surrounded grille which trails down the flush bumpers, and matches up with a skidplate in front, further emphasizes the no-nonsense look of the Graphyte.

But GMC's butch concept SUV has many softer, stylish touches which are usually reserved for luxury vehicles. Pillarless side glass, commonplace on sporty coupes, can be found on this concept SUV, while LED tail lamps mounted on the D-pillar add a touch of flair. The tailgate of the Graphyte consists of two pieces, a strut-supported upper hatch, and a vertical sliding panel which creates a low loading sill.
