Lamborghini's decision to show off the Concept S at Geneva isn't a simple ego-boost to counter the release of the Ferrari

F430 Spyder; instead, it can be seen as a commitment to green-lighting the Gallardo Roadster. As with past Lambo convertibles, namely the 350 GTS and the Miura Roadster, the company feels that the upcoming car should have unique styling and a different character in order to separate it from the conventional coupe, hence the minor nose and tail modifications.

Expect to see a toned-down variant of the concept, without the split windshield or body-length spar, to appear as the Gallardo Roadster sometime within the next year. It's estimated that this latest expression of tradition will have a price tag of $176,000. That's a $10,000 surcharge over the base Gallardo, but it's well worth the cost for an open-air supercar as sophisticated and advanced as this.
