Enclosed in the fully-covered rear decklid is the powerplant of a true racing champion. The only thing is that it's been slightly toned down when compared to the Enzo,
Although toned down to meet FIA restrictions, the MC12's 6.0-liter V12 engine still generates a screaming 630 horsepower at 7,500 rpm. (Photo: Maserati) |
Although fundamentally the same interior as found in the Enzo, the MC12's cabin has extra creature comforts for a more refined ambiance. (Photo: Maserati) |
I wouldn't call it biased toward relaxation, but being that the Maserati is the gentlemen's performance car marque the MC12 has been equipped with the standard luxury goods. Carbon fiber, much of which is still visible on the dashboard and footwells, is offset by touches of aluminum and leather. Still the car is very much an Enzo, with the same familiar shapes such as its thin center console and the steering wheel with thumb pad horns. The seats feature carbon fiber backs, while their surfaces are covered in leather. Many will appreciate the extra creature comforts of the MC12, including air conditioning and power windows. Final and slightly gaudy touches include the italicized Maserati logo and the corporate 'royal' clock.
