Aesthetically and mechanically the Yeti Open Top Concept is similar to the hard-roofed Yeti, minus the two rear doors and pillar-mounted
tail lamps. The interior has a useful, if not slightly bare look to it, finished with weather-repelling materials that are resilient to active lifestyles. Large fog lamps, high ground clearance (no AWD, or 4WD), high profile tires and matte plastic also improve the exterior's durability. Meanwhile, a new taut fabric has been used to cover the entire gear stick and gate lever, while the stereo now feature removable speakers and head-unit.
In many ways, the Yeti Open Roof can be considered the natural successor to the Felicia Fun, the last vehicle to be engineered in house by Skoda. The Yeti adopts many of the new traits that made the Fun such a popular niche vehicle, yet combines them with more modern features and new technological advancements. Skoda has already promoted the hardtop Yeti to what is believed to be near production, as disguised mules have been spotted on European roads. The Yeti would be a completely unique model to Skoda, and should certainly draw attention to this VW-owned brand.
A cheap to own and cheap to run vehicle that's useful, and doesn't skip out on practicality or fun; now, isn't that smart?
Specifications:
Body Type: 2-door crossover SUV-pickup-convertible
Layout: front engine, FWD
Engine (estimated): 100-hp, 1.9L SOHC I-4 turbodiesel
Transmission (estimated): 6-spd automatic
Seating Capacity: 4
