Based on Ford's new CD3 chassis, the all-new MKX will be built in Oakville
Ontario. Production is set to begin in August of this year. Powering the MKX will be a 250 hp 3.5L V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The MKX, which has nothing to do with the previous model, shares most of its components with its Ford twin, the Edge. Although this may be true, each vehicle retains their own brand identity. In the USA, a FWD version will part of the basic package and an AWD iteration will be optional. We expect that Canada will only receive the AWD drivetrain.
Targeted competitors of the MKX are the Lexus RX, Acura MDX, the Cadillac SRX and, to a lesser extent, the Infiniti FX.
