I can see the ZDX as a viable alternate to SUV ownership for those not requiring a cavernous cabin but still wanting greater command of the trails than a basic AWD sedan can provide. The ZDX supplies a full 200mm of ground clearance while its Acura TL cousin with AWD is limited to 145mm of ground clearance.
On snow-covered pavement or a heavily rutted dirt road, the extra height can mean the difference between walking and driving.
Along with enhanced off-pavement competency comes style and reasonably inspiring on-road performance. Hence: multiplicity. So I guess that’s it, the ZDX “raison d'être” is multiplicity. Unfortunately that multiplicity is expensive.
At $55,990, the ZDX is a pricey piece of machinery; adding the technology package puts it in the realm of $60K. Yikes.
