The M advantage
Both new Ms are fairly different from the models from which they stem. Their entire front end, with its enormous air intakes, is unique, while the lowered suspension, 20-inch wheels, set of side skirts and dual twin exhaust tips round out the list of exclusive features that set them apart from standard models.
The interior comes fully equipped, featuring the latest generation iDrive system, specific function displays and a heads-up display at the base of the windshield. A reverse camera and parking assist are both standard – and in the case of the X6 M, particularly welcome.
To complete the ensemble, the cabin’s trim is part of the new BMW Individual program with Merino leather seating and an abundance of brushed aluminum accents.
Unfortunately, BMW has chosen one of the worst possible moments to introduce vehicles in this class. If the brand had created a precedent with the first-generation X5, would a faithful client base have evolved in a more favourable context and perhaps have guaranteed the success of these terrible twins?
BMW has yet to release Canadian pricing or availability.
