Jaguar/Land Rover
The past 35 years have been tough for this duo. However, against all odds, Jaguar and Land Rover both survived and now find themselves in good hands. Tata Motors owns the two brands but doesn't interfere with either one's operations. Picture the Indian auto giant as a wealthy uncle with a pocketful of cash.
Tata allowed Jaguar and Land Rover to develop new models, the latest being the Range Rover Evoque (we're big fans of this compact luxury crossover). The premium 4x4 icon is about to resurrect the legendary Defender and promises other additions to the lineup in future years. Same thing at Jaguar. The XJ is still fresh and particularly impressive, while the all-new XKR-S will seriously challenge Aston Martin and Porsche on the track. There's also a ''Super Jaguar'' in store that will make many weak in the knees.
Jaguar and Land Rover are picking up steam and we firmly believe that customers will respond positively. That being said, build quality has to go hand in hand with styling. A number of small issues remain on this front, and today's drivers won't tolerate them like their predecessors did. For sure, though, no other brand can match their cachet.
Mercedes-Benz
Among German automakers, Mercedes-Benz is probably the equivalent of the British Royal family. An automobile sporting the three-pointed star embodies the utmost opulence on the road. Over its rich 125-year history, Mercedes-Benz has produced some of the most beautiful and desirable cars of all time.
The current lineup boasts 14 different vehicles, many of which come in two or three different body styles. Whether you're looking for a big SUV, a prestigious sedan, a sports coupe or an exotic convertible, you're sure to find it here. Since 2008 or so, Mercedes-Benz has made constant changes and upgrades to its models, which only boosted consumer interest even more.
Just like its domestic rivals, this automaker sells cutting-edge products that are expertly and tastefully built and appointed. We've also seen efforts to introduce more affordable cars and consequently reach world domination.
