The track beast
What better way to vent your road rage than by doing a few hot laps around a racetrack? It’s a safe, controlled environment that won’t get you or others into trouble, and a hobby that’s more amusing (albeit more expensive) than collecting stamps.

It’s even more gratifying when you do it in your own car. The car you bought, that you prepped for lapping and on which you’ll have spent money and burnt elbow grease on to improve your lap times. Nissan makes all that easier; no need for any modifications in the NISMO 370Z.

This car was born and raised track-side. It includes a punchy engine and great handling, and looks the part, too. When you’re not on a track, though, know that you have a couple of sacrifices to make.

First and foremost, the car looks great. We’re not too sure about the unique front fascia, however, as its smaller mouth doesn’t exhibit the aggressiveness of the regular Z’s saber-toothed grin. On the other hand, the side skirts, the meaner-looking rear bumper and the bigger rear wing compensate well. The 19-inch alloys are, in my humble opinion, stunning; you can also get them on the regular 370Z.

Frankly, the NISMO certainly draws attention wherever it goes. Even parked in my driveway, people would slow down, stop and take pictures of it as they passed by. The teenager and young adult crowd appreciate it especially, since like the mighty GT-R, NISMO cars star in many video games.

Aided with a free-flowing exhaust and a reprogrammed engine computer, the NISMO’s 3.7-litre V6 produces 350 horsepower at 7,400 rpm, or 18 ponies more than the normal 370Z. Torque is also up slightly, by 6 pound-feet. A nastier engine growl would’ve been nice, but it has lungs nonetheless.
