Miss: 2013 Acura RDX
This new-generation RDX is a retreat from the original’s interesting premise. The current RDX stands outs from a styling standpoint, flaunts an over-achieving turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine, and makes the road grippier with Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).
The prototype debuted in Detroit has V6 power and a six-speed automatic, which should achieve better fuel economy numbers than the current RDX. Also, SH-AWD gets the heave-ho for a more pedestrian system, which also matches the more pedestrian styling. The new 2013 Acura RDX will surely outsell its predecessor, and for that we can’t rag on Acura too much, but we wonder why Acura couldn’t have updated RDX in its original — and more personality-laden — trajectory.
