Cons: This is a big SUV, and daily use will show that it is a tight fit in just about every parking space in the mall or on the street. For those who go off road, many of your favourite trails are actually narrower than the LX 570.
Price: Basic MSRP is $94,450 for the single model offered. There are no options, only a few items such as cargo mats, a block heater, and cargo net are available as accessories.
Fuel Economy (city/highway/combined in L/100 km): 17.0/11.6/14.5
Improvements and Changes: This is a carryover year with no significant changes for the 2014 Lexus LX 570.
Exterior Styling: A traditional Lexus grille is up front, with a monstrous amount of sheet metal shaped into a pleasing, but conservatively styed four-door hatchback SUV. There are chrome accents and bright wheels to distract you from the size of the Lexus LX 570. Doors open wide enough for a regal party to enter and exit.
Inside: Seats in all seven positions are comfortable bordering on sumptuous for the front two rows. “Stereo” is the wrong term to use when referring to the system in the 2014 Lexus LX 570. The Mark Levinson Reference Surround sound 7.1-channel system uses 19 speakers, has Bluetooth™, USB inputs, Satellite radio, and navigation along with steering-wheel mounted controls. For those lounging in the second row, a dual seatback DVD entertainment system with 7” screens, wireless headphones, and a remote control is outfitted. Quad-zone climate control is also standard. The second row seat is a 40/20/40 folding unit, while the third row is a 50/50 fold flat seat.
Cargo/towing/payload capacity: Maximum towing capacity is 3,175 kg (7,000 lb). Cargo space is 439 litres behind the third row seat, and with that seat folded down it becomes 1,161 litres.
Powertrain: The only source of motivation for the 2014 Lexus LX 570 comes from a 383-horsepower, V8 with Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) that produces 403 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic with sequential shift mode puts the power to the ground via a two-speed transfer case and front and rear differentials.
Safety: Dual front, front-seat side impact, and full-length side curtain airbags are standard. In addition, driver and front passenger knee bags and second-row side impact airbags are standard. Child-proof rear door locks and the LATCH system to anchor child seats are standard. Vehicle Stability Control, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Hill-start and Down Hill assists are all standard. Multi-terrain traction control, a manually locking centre differential, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control are all standard.
Comparables: Land Rover Range Rover, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Infiniti QX 80, Mercedes Benz GL Class.
