Pros: The Chevrolet Cruze has been a bit of a golden child since its inception in 2008, and with good reasons. Modern to look at inside and out, and well-priced with a diesel version to boot, the Cruze has always been a winner.
Cons: Elsewhere I the world, the Chevrolet Cruze is available in wagon and hatchback body styles. Here in Canada we just get the sedan.
2015 Chevrolet Cruze Price and Fuel Economy: Pricing for the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze starts at $15,595.
In terms of fuel economy, engines carry over from the 2014 model including the much talked about 2.0L turbo diesel with a rating of 5.1L/100km on the highway. The two gas engines deliver 6.2-6.5L/100km on the highway (5.6L in the case of the Cruze Eco).
Changes and Improvements: Despite no mechanical changes, the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze does offer some upgrades in terms of styling and, most notably, technological bits and pieces.
The front end of the Chevy Cruze (save for the LS model) has been updated to reflect the more angular and mature fascia of its big brothers, the Malibu and Impala. This upgraded look also includes LED daytime running lights.
Inside, revised cupholders and relocated door lock switches aren’t the big story here (although they are part of the upgrade). Instead, it’s the integration of Apple’s Siri and OnStar with 4G LTE along with standard built-in Wi-Fi hotspot capability. That’s right: Your Cruze can now be a moving hotspot, and when you purchase your 2015 Chevy Cruze you’ll get a 3GB/3-month trial.
Powertrain: As mentioned above, engine choices across the Chevrolet Cruze lineup remain the same as they were in 2014. That means an ECOTEC 1.8L VVT good for 138 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque; an ECOTEC 1.4L turbocharged mill that pushes out the same number of horses, but 148 lb-ft of torque; and finally the 2.0L Clean Turbo Diesel engine that’ll dish out 151 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque (280 with overboost).
Two transmissions are available: both 6-speed, one manual, one automatic. The diesel is only available with the automatic transmission.
Cargo Capacity: The ECOTEC versions of the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze offer up 425L of cargo space, whereas the Turbo Diesel variant drops that number to 376.6L.
Safety: The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze comes equipped with all manner of standard safety equipment and airbags (10!), including OnStar in-vehicle communication and assistance service, LATCH child seat anchors, and StabiliTrak.
