2015 Chevrolet Equinox Preview

Pros: The Chevy Equinox is an affordable CUV that offers up plenty of interior space as well as handsome exterior looks, and a great powertrain warranty from GM.  

Cons: You’ll want to outfit your Equinox with the nines to make it feel really cozy and offer everything you’d want in a crossover, which makes the price jump. 

2015 Chevrolet Equinox Price and Fuel Economy: There are seven available Chevy Equinox models, each offering differing interior amenities and/or front- or all-wheel drive.

Combined fuel efficiency ranges between 7.3L/100km (FWD) and 8.2L/100km (AWD) for the Ecotec 2.4L engine; and 9.5L/100km (FWD) and 9.9L/100km (AWD) for the 3.6L V6.   

Powertrain: As seen above, there are two separate powertrains available for the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. First is an Ecotec 2.4L I-4 that produces 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. There is also a 3.6L DOHC V6 available that’s good for 301 horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque. 

Power is either sent to the front wheels or all four, depending on the model you choose, and is handled via a 6-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission across the board. 

Changes and Improvements: No major changes or improvements were made, however, like other 2015 Chevrolet models, the Equinox is now equipped with 4G LTE Wi-Fi capabilities. There are also two new exterior colours: Blue Velvet Metallic and Sea Grass Metallic. 

Cargo Capacity: The 2015 Chevrolet Equinox offers seating for five, and 892 litres with the rear seats up, 1,804 with them folded. 

Safety: The 2015 Chevrolet Equinox is equipped with all manner of standard safety equipment and airbags, as well as standard OnStar connectivity, and available Forward Collision Alert, and Lane Departure Warning.
