The completely redesigned 2017 Jeep Compass has just made its North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show following its world premiere in Brazil―where production will take place along with Mexico, China, and India―earlier this fall.
It will go on sale in Canada and the U.S. during the first quarter of 2017.
Built on FCA’s “small wide 4x4 architecture” that aims to combine best-in-class capability with exceptional on-road driving dynamics, the new Jeep Compass boasts a more premium, distinguished look while integrating signature Jeep styling including an open-air, dual-pane sunroof.
In North America, models powered by the fuel-efficient 2.4L Tigershark 4-cylinder (180 horsepower, 175 lb-ft of torque) will achieve an estimated 7.8L/100km thanks in part to engine stop-start and a class-exclusive 9-speed automatic transmission (optional). On the flip side, we can’t wait to go out into the woods and abuse the new and rugged Compass Trailhawk.
Inside, higher-quality materials are a welcome touch. The fourth-generation Uconnect infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the choice of 5.0” or 8.4” touchscreens with pinch-and-zoom capability. Occupants will be protected by more than 65 available advanced safety and security features.
