As we’ve previously written, Mazda is well on the way to transforming itself into a boutique automotive brand focused on its product quality and on the customer experience. The high-end approach is founded on providing consumers with a superior level of refinement.
It’s in keeping with this strategy that the Japanese automaker has now offered Canadian buyers of the 2017 Mazda3 the option of picking up a new Special Edition, to be produced in limited quantity.
Based on the GX entry-level model featuring the Comfort and Convenience packages, the Special Edition sports such features as a rear spoiler, 16-inch alloy wheels, leatherette-trimmed upholstery, heated front seats and satin finishes. Its 155-hp 2.0L engine, meanwhile, is exclusively mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The 2017 Mazda3 Special Edition is priced at $20,850, a little more than the manual-transmission version of the mid-line GS trim. The latter, though it contents itself with premium cloth upholstery, adds heated side-view mirrors, automatic headlights, a heated steering wheel and a leather-covered gear shift knob as well as several advanced safety systems such as smart city brake assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
The choice is yours to make – though don’t delay lest you miss the limited-run Special Edition!
