This week, renowned luxury car dealer Decarie Motors* in Montreal invited the automotive media to attend the Canadian premiere of the new 2018 Bentley Continental Supersports. Largely based on the GT3-R, it’s said to be the world’s fastest 4-door luxury coupe and a real gem for car collectors.
The Continental SuperSports is the latest in a long and rich line of Bentely automobiles, dating back to the company’s foundation by the Bentley brothers in 1919 in Cricklewood, England (the brand is now part of Volkswagen AG along with Audi, Lamborghini, Bugatti, SEAT, Skoda, and others).
While the lines and interior finish are worthy of a world-class supercar, the Continental SuperSports’ technology impresses even more. The now-classic turbocharged W12 engine produces 701 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque, allowing 0-100km/h sprints in 3.4 seconds, 0-160km/h acceleration in 7.2 seconds, and a top speed of 336 km/h. Fun fact: When the car reaches its maximum velocity, it can cover the length of a football field in one second!
Only 5-6 units out of the planned 200 will be allocated to the Canadian market (selling from $335,000 apiece). A convertible variant will join the lineup this summer.
