We recently learned that the GT version of the VW Passat will get the axe in 2019, along with a couple of other trims of the sedan model. In the case of the GT, it had only been introduced this year! Another victim of the SUV gold rush...
It's a shame, because the GT version managed to make a fairly non-descript sedan into a relatively dynamic, fun-to-drive car. That obviously was not enough, as the GT becomes yet another sedan to fall by the wayside.

There will of course continue to be Passats on the VW roster. But in 2019 there will be only two to choose from: the Wolfsburg edition and the SE R-Line. Gone are the the S, the SEL... and the GT.
