# 3 With success, a second Blazer

Sales of the K5 Blazer took off. So much so that when it was time for the model’s third generation in 1983, GM decided to produce a smaller sibling. And so was born the S-10 Blazer, more compact than the K5 as it was built based on the S-10 midsize pickup. For several years, consumers could choose between a big and a small Blazer (first as a two-door, and later as a four-door).

# 4 This way the exit

In 1995, the K5 metamorphosed into the Chevrolet Tahoe (and the Grand Blazer in South America); with this change, the S-10 Blazer became simply the Blazer since there was no longer any possibility of confusing consumers, which is of course not generally recommended. In 2005, however, the Blazer was dropped from the lineup, replaced by the TrailBlazer, Equinox and Captive (and the Envoy at GMC).
