The Wrangler JL will see in its third year with a non-hybrid turbo

A report in website JLWranglerForums that remains unconfirmed by Jeep reveals some details about the powertrain configurations that will be offered for the Jeep Wrangler in 2020. The details were spotted in Jeep’s order guide for 2020, which shows an available 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo configuration for the Sport and Rubicon models. This combo will also include stop/start technology, but won’t feature a 48-volt electrical unit or the company’s eTorque system.

In the U.S., this version is getting a price point $1,500 lower than the model equipped with a hybrid powertrain.

The order guide also shows that hybrid powertrain will be available as an option on the Sahara variant equipped with an automatic transmission and the 3.6L Pentastar V6. For its part, the EcoDiesel V6 will make its debut in all of the Unlimited editions, namely the Sport, Sahara and Rubicon.

Also revealed is a new visual package called Black & Tan, which includes a beige-coloured soft-top, matching-colour seats, two-tone alloy wheels and other appearance-enhancing elements.

It remains to be seen if the Canadian market will get the same offerings, but odds are that if these changes are being introduced south of the border, the versions sold in Canada will get their share of updates as well.

If you’re thinking of getting a 2020 Wrangler, the third iteration of the JL generation of the model, the product offering could thus be slightly different than what you’re seeing for 2019 models.
