Not to be outdone by their cross-country rivals, BMW also offers a full palate of EVs, running the gamut from compact four-dour coupes to luxurious full-size sedans.

The i4 – which gets the hatchback body style normally reserved for BMW’s Gran Coupe models – is a great entry into the world of BMW and of all-electric mobilit, offering the performance the brands 3- and 4 Series models have always been known for, and efficient EV tech with a rang 484 km. It even gets a high-performance M50 xDrive version good for 536 hp.

Up from that we find the i5, a mid-size sedan that shares a platform with the popular 5 Series and offering up to 605 lb-ft of torque and up to 428 km of range.

At the tippity-top of BMW’s EV car lineup we find the i7, a proper luxury limousine that goes so far as to offer a 31.3-inch rear seat display that folds down from the roof and spans the width of the rear cabin area.

If a more high-riding vehicle better suits your fancy, then the iX is probably more what you’re after. It’s one of the earlier models in the BMW i lineup and it’s roughly X5-sized. The iX is good for almost 500 km of range and gets a 516 hp high-performance version of its own.

Cadillac stuck both feet into the EV waters in 2024 with the Lyriq, a mid-size luxury SUV that comes available in both single- and dual-motor versions.

For those looking for the most range, the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) single-motor model is the way to go, as it makes up to 505 km on a full charge, while making 340 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. The dual-motor AWD model makes more power at 500 hp and 450 lb-ft, but slightly less range with a claimed max output of 494 km. Not a huge drop in range, but worth considering especially since you are paying a premium for the AWD model.

No matter which Lyriq you opt for, you have access to features like a 33-inch diagonal digital dash, leather seating, one-pedal driving with regen on demand and wireless phone charging.

  • - Cadillac Lyriq AWD max range: 494 km
  • - Cadillac Lyriq RWD max range: 505 km
