Detroit, Michigan — Ford is bringing several changes to its F-150 for the 2027 model-year. Without undergoing a complete redesign, the automaker revises the appearance of certain trims, replaces the base engine, and adds a feature allowing the use of the BlueCruise system while towing.
The lineup also expands with a Carhartt Edition. Already associated with the Super Duty, the workwear brand is extending its presence to the F-150. This new variant will be offered in Canada starting at $81,710, before freight and PDI charges.
These modifications come as the F-Series remains, according to Ford, the best-selling truck in Canada for 60 consecutive years.

Design of the 2027 Ford F-150
Visual changes to the 2027 F-150 primarily affect the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum trims, which receive a redesigned grille as well as new wheel designs.
For the rest, we hope you weren’t set on seeing a radical transformation. Why risk messing with your juggernaut. Instead, Ford focused on updating the front end of its pickup while retaining the main elements that make the F-150 recognizable. Technology in the 2027 Ford F-150
One of the main updates touching on tech is the arrival of BlueCruise with towing. This evolution of the driver-assist system will allow for hands-free driving on nearly 210,000 km of pre-qualified highways by Ford, even when a trailer is attached to the vehicle.
The 2027 F-150 will be the first Ford model to offer the feature. It can notably be used with a utility trailer, boat or camper, provided the type, dimensions and weight of the trailer respect the limits set by the manufacturer.
According to a survey of American owners, more than 75 percent of F-150 customers use their truck for towing. Ford says it tested the system over thousands of kilometres, in addition to using its driving simulator to evaluate various vehicle and trailer combinations.
BlueCruise with towing won’t be restricted to the most expensive trims either. It will be accessible on all 2027 F-150s equipped with BlueCruise technology, including XLT, Tremor, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum models. However, an active subscription or trial period will be required. No additional fee will be requested to activate the towing feature if the vehicle already has a valid subscription.
As is the case with the current BlueCruise system, the driver must continue to keep their eyes on the road and remain ready to resume control. Certain features could also be limited when a trailer is attached.
Powertrains of the 2027 Ford F-150
Ford is also altering its powertrain lineup. The 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine will give way to a new 3.0L EcoBoost V6.
Both engines share the same basic architecture and offer, according to Ford, comparable maximum capacities. The automaker notes, however, that the new engine delivers about 10 to 11 percent more torque in the rpm range typically used in daily driving. It should thus offer crisper acceleration without significantly changing the truck's maximum capacity.
This engine puts out 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. When installed in a regular-cab F-150 with a 6.5-ft bed and rear-wheel drive, it can tow up to 3,810 kg, or 8,400 lb. Its maximum payload reaches 796 kg, or 1,755 lb.
The 5.0L V8 remains in the catalogue. It develops 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 is also carried over with 500 lb-ft of torque and a maximum towing capacity of 6,123 kg, or 13,500 lb, when properly equipped.
Finally, the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid engine is still offered. It generates 570 lb-ft of torque and can be paired with the Pro Power Onboard system. The latter transforms the truck into a mobile power source generating 2.4 or 7.2 kW, depending on the selected equipment.
Carhartt moves from Super Duty to F-150
After presenting a Carhartt Edition of the Super Duty last spring, Ford is applying a similar formula to its light-duty full-size pickup. The Carhartt package for the 2027 F-150 will be reserved for XLT 4x4 SuperCrew models.
This variant relies primarily on styling elements and protective accessories for the truck. On the outside, it distinguishes itself with exclusive 20-inch wheels, side vents, and badges bearing the Carhartt logo. Lower body and tailgate graphics are also applied.
Ford adds a hood sourced from the Tremor version, as well as a modified grille, dual exhaust outlets and Tremor-style running boards. The bed receives a spray-in bedliner featuring Carhartt branding.
The cabin gets themed seat covers designed to better withstand work-related use. Contrast stitching appears on the door panels, centre console lid and steering wheel. All-weather floor mats featuring the Carhartt logo are also included.
The Carhartt package costs $5,995. So equipped, the F-150 carries a starting price of $82,285, excluding freight and PDI, taxes and other applicable fees.
Ford is taking orders for the 2027 F-150 Carhartt now. First Canadian deliveries are scheduled for early 2027.
