Kia estimates that charging from 10 to 80 percent takes as little as 30 minutes under optimal conditions.

The first units of the 2027 Kia PV5 Cargo are arriving at Canadian dealerships. For its first commercial van offered here, the Korean manufacturer is announcing a range of 386 km. The rating is the same for both trims in the Canadian catalogue, the base model and the PV5 Plus.

Visitors to the Montreal Auto Show got their first look at the new compact electric van last January. At the time Canadian pricing was announced, its range was estimated at roughly 360 km. The official Canadian spec sheet thus indicates 26 km more than expected on a full charge.

A 71.2-kWh battery
Both versions of the PV5 draw their energy from a 71.2-kWh battery. Kia has opted to give Canadian models a NACS-type charging port. The automaker estimates it takes as little as 30 minutes to bring the state of charge from 10 to 80 percent under optimal conditions and at a compatible fast charger.

For businesses returning their vehicles to the depot at the end of the day, Kia also provides a Level 2 charging time. The Canadian spec sheet indicates 6 hours and 15 minutes on a 240-volt setup for both the base model and the Plus trim.

Over five cubic metres for cargo
At the rear of the PV5, the two doors open to 180 degrees to grant access to 5,016 litres of cargo space. The floor sits 419 mm or just under 42 cm off the ground; in other words, that’s the step-in height to load packages or work gear. Maximum payload stands at 740 kg.

2027 Kia PV5 - Canadian pricing

Kia Canada sets the suggested retail price at $46,995 CAD for the base PV5 and $49,095 for the PV5 Plus, before fees and taxes. The extra $2,100 buys heated seats, a heated steering wheel and bi-directional power functionality (V2L), allowing users to plug electrical devices into the vehicle.
