16 – Alfa Romeo New York Taxi 1976
The history of this Alfa Romeo taxi is an utterly fascinating one. The vehicle was born on commission for the Museum of Modern Art in New York and created by the famed Italdesign firm. The goal was to create the taxi of tomorrow, a vehicle focused on function and efficiency. The interior featured a fully flat floor, space for a ton of luggage, the ability to accommodate a wheelchair and five passengers in all.
The product never advanced beyond the concept phase, but it did influence the design of the future Alfa Romeo minivan.
