17 – Volvo New York Taxi Concept 1977
The following year, the Museum of Modern Art again commissioned a taxi concept, this time in collaboration with the New York Office of Transport, and this time from Volvo. The Volvo Experimental Taxi was powered by a 6-cylinder diesel engine and was also designed to accommodate a wheelchair. Like the previous year’s Alfa Romeo, it would remain just a design study, alas.
