Few races in the motorsports world are as legendary as the Indianapolis 500. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Indy 500, a team of dozens is currently building a life-size Hot Wheels toy track for a masked stuntman, who will attempt a world-record setting jump of 302 feet with a Pro2 truck.
The 100 foot tall construction will be built to resemble a child’s bedroom, one end of the Hot Wheels-inspired track being supported by a gigantic bedroom door and the other extending outward.
Though the laws of physics may prevail, this will be one incredible spectacle.
A healthy dollop of power will of course be needed to pull off this stunt. An engine generating over 850 hp similar to those used in NASCAR will be tasked with getting the 3,500-lb vehicle up to about 144 km/h.
According to calculations, the speed and 45-degree angle will enable the driver to sail over 302 feet and land on an equally imposing structure 21 feet high and 220 feet wide.
The stunt is dubbed Fearless at the 500.
