Additionally, the MDX is now equipped with environment-sensing headlights and front wipers. By monitoring exterior lighting conditions, the headlights now turn on and off automatically. The front wipers, by sensing both the presence and severity of precipitation, will also turn on and off as well as adjust the speed to keep the windshield clear.
Other minor refinements include new 17-inch alloy wheels, aluminum step garnish, a lighter interior wood trim and an auto up/down driver's power window.
2003 Acura 1.7EL
Sitting in a class by itself, the uniquely Canadian compact luxury vehicle, the 1.7EL, will also benefit from significant changes for the 2003 model year.
A limited number of special "Aero" accessory packages are available with the 2003 EL in Satin Silver Metallic, Nighthawk Black Pearl or Eternal Blue Pearl exterior colours. Combining a rear spoiler and trunk tray with front, rear and side skirts, the Aero package can be added to the EL with either the Touring or Premium trim levels for $1300. This dealer-installed package represents a value of approximately $2600 based on the suggested retail prices of Honda Genuine Accessories.
All EL trims, however, receive a high tech self-illuminating instrument gauge cluster and a centre console armrest redesigned to include a storage compartment. The front seats have been redesigned to deliver a more comfortable and supportive ride and rear outboard adjustable headrests have been installed. The 1.7EL in Touring trim also receives a new seat fabric design while Premium trims add an automatic climate control system.
