this architecture underpins the Odyssey minivan, which also carries the mid- to full-size Pilot and Acura MDX sport utes. The RD-X needs to be smaller than the MDX, which means the Honda CR-V, or possibly the next generation version, will donate its overall architecture.

The most intriguing statement that the Honda division included in its announcement was that the new RD-X has been "designed to knife through traffic on crowded city streets and carve up twisty mountain roads."

You can fill in the blanks. Nevertheless, Acura will be bringing a new compact SUV to market in the near future, and after January 9th the world will have a better idea as to what it will look like, what chassis it will ride upon and what powertrain will propel it. Stay tuned.
