Earlier this week, Lotus unveiled its fastest and most powerful production car ever, the Evora 400. Great news for us in Canada: After going on sale in Europe this August, it will hit the North American market in the fall as a 2016 model. Pricing has yet to be announced.

Boasting a top speed of 300 km/h and 0-100km/h acceleration times of 4.2 seconds, the new Lotus Evora 400 managed to lap the challenging test track at the Lotus headquarters a full six seconds faster than the previous model. Over two thirds of the car is new, including its supercharged and mid-mounted 3.5L V6 engine producing 400 horsepower, as well as its aluminum chassis and cockpit.

Outside, the Lotus Evora 400 rides on lightweight forged aluminum wheels (19” front, 20” rear) that are 3.3kg lighter than the forged wheels on the previous Evora. The bold new front end incorporates larger air intakes and attractive daytime running lamps, while the rear section features a lighter composite diffuser and a centre-mounted exhaust.

As for the cabin of the Lotus Evora 400, you'll find lighter front seats and optional rear seats that are 280mm wider than those in the previous Evora. The bespoke feel is carried across three new trim levels, including trim upgrades in full Alcantara or Scottish leather.
