American Le Mans Series (ALMS) is quickly becoming a hot destination for IndyCar teams it seems. According to Autocourse.ca, Conquest Racing would be the latest squad to show interest in switching from Indy to endurance racing.
Nothing is written in stone yet, but rumours indicate Conquest Racing will field an Nissan-powered P2 Oak-Pescarolo prototype next year, with Belgium’s Eric Bachelart as one of the drivers.
The news broke out not long after Newman/Haas Racing announced the end of its IndyCar involvement, and the chances to see the prestigious team follow Conquest Racing’s road to ALMS are good.
Three teams have gone that way in the past, and enjoyed lots of success. Penske Racing most notably won the LMP2 title four times, fielding Porsche Spyders. And as recently as last year, Rahal-Letterman’s association with BMW won them the GT title.
