Lotus Motorsport has decided to lend a helping hand to Alex Job Racing’s ALMS effort. Together the will field a 2012 Lotus Evora GTE in the GT class of the US series.
"It's a pleasure to welcome the Lotus brand and its spectacular Evora to the most competitive GT class of racing in the world," said ALMS President and CEO Scott Atherton, on the series' website.
Alex Job Racing's boss Alex Job has elected IndyCar driver Townsend Bell and Bill Sweedler to take the wheel of the Evora, for the full duration of the season. In the past, Bell also experienced racing in the Indy Lights championship, the FIA F3000 series.
Alex Job Racing itself is a four-time GT class championship winner, and holds the record for the most consecutive pole positions – 22. They also racked up two class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and seven at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
The factory-backed Lotus Evora is set to make its first race appearance at the ALMS Long Beach weekend, April 14th. About their objectives, Group Lotus' CEO Dany Bahar made his view clear: "We are focused on winning."
