Rockstar Makita Yoshimura Suzuki's Mat Mladin lead the first practice session of the AMA Superbike round taking place at Laguna Seca in California.
His final time would have been good enough for him to finish among the leaders of the MotoGP practice!
Maldin's teammate Ben Spies, who had just completed part of his work for Rizla Suzuki in the MotoGP practice, took a bit of time to get up to speed but still managed to have the second best time. Until Mladin last ditch effort, Spies sat on top of the time sheet.
American Honda's Neil Hodgson ranked third, just ahead of Yamaha USA teammates Jason DiSalvo and Eric Bostrom.
Miguel Duhamel on his Honda ranked 8th.
