The official list of nominees for the 2017 World Car of the Year, World Luxury / Performance Car, World Green Car, World Car Design of the Year, and the inaugural World Urban Car is out, and once again voting will be tough.
Crossovers are well represented this year with the likes of the Mazda CX-9, Kia Sportage, Audi Q5, and Volkswagen Tiguan. Brand new vehicles make their appearance, such as the Chrysler Pacifica, Jaguar F-PACE, and Toyota C-HR. Obviously, some familiar names return, too, like the Honda Civic and Subaru Impreza.
By the way, Audi leads all makes with five nominations overall.
The WCOTY jurors―73 renowned automotive journalists from all over the globe―will test drive all the contenders between now and February 1st, 2017, at which point the 10 finalists will be announced and the second round of voting will begin. There will be only three vehicles left by the time the Geneva Auto Show kicks off, and all WCOTY award winners will be crowned at the New York Auto Show on April 13th, 2017.
