Today in Gaydon, U.K., Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing unveiled the all-new, road-going AM-RB 001 hypercar. Production will be limited to anywhere between 99 and 150 units including 25 track-only models.

Deliveries are expected to begin sometime in 2018.

With the promise of exceptional performance, Aston Martin wants to take on the equally new Bugatti Chiron and other world-class cars. Technical details remain scarce at this point, but we do know that a naturally aspirated, mid-mounted V12 will provide motivation and help the AM-RB 001 achieve an incredible power-to-weight ratio of 1:1.

Featuring an extremely aerodynamic design, the car is built on a lightweight carbon fibre chassis and was designed by none other than Red Bull Racing’s Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey.

“I’ve long harboured the desire to design a road car,” he says. “The formation of Red Bull Advanced Technologies brought me a step closer to realising that ambition, but I believed we should work with an automotive manufacturer. Aston Martin was at the top of my list. The synergy between Red Bull Racing and Aston Martin is clear. I knew Red Bull Racing had the ability to handle the pure performance aspects, but Aston Martin’s experience of making beautiful, fast, and comfortable GT cars is of great benefit to the project.”
