Fans at Wörthersee this week will have the opportunity to admire the new Audi TT clubsport turbo concept, which sends a whopping 600 horsepower to all four wheels. Inspired by the legendary Audi 90 IMSA GTO race car from the late 1980s, it can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.

The Audi TT clubsport turbo concept uses the same 2.5L inline 5-cylinder TFSI engine as the new RS3, but adds a battery-powered supercharger for the highest-revving action possible. The system will automatically increase boost pressure when there's too little energy feeding the conventional turbocharger.

Another innovative technology found in the Audi TT clubsport turbo concept is a 48V sub-unit that supplies power to the turbocharger. A compact lithium-ion battery, mounted in the cargo area, stores energy from braking and idling. A DC/DC converter then allows a transfer to the 12V system.

Elsewhere, a roll cage with ultra-high-strength titanium bars offers increased protection for the rear section of the cockpit. The racing seats feature four-point harnesses, while the driver-oriented dashboard makes it possible to control all key functions through four buttons on the steering wheel.
