The same goes for Ford's F250 and F350 models, but the blue oval nameplate doesn't offer any other diesels in North America

yet. Although, being the most globally entrenched of all Detroit Big 3 automakers, Ford wouldn't have too much trouble finding powertrains capable of meeting diesel demand in North America when needed. Ford also produces a full-hybrid system, which would work well with diesel power as well.

In the end, diesel-power looks to be the short-term alternative to gasoline until hydrogen-powered vehicles become available en masse. Whether mated to hybrid-electric technology or merely offered as the sole power source, diesels will go far in contributing to reduced greenhouse gases while limiting our dependence on fossil fuels; due to decreased fuel consumption. Look for big changes in the near future.
