The new 3-Series Cabriolet will carry a retractable powered hardtop for the first time in a BMW to date. The new roof mechanism is made of lightweight steel and retracts in just 22 seconds with the push of a button.
The lines of the 3-Series Cabriolet are still unmistakable from any angle despite the new roof. The clean lines are preserved by way of several integrated antennas, including a satellite radio pre-wire with antenna mounted into the deck lid. No visible external aerials are present on the new car. There are several other distinguishing features specific to the cabriolet model, including a unique grille and headlamp treatment. Active xenon lights are standard.
Power comes from two engines. The 328i model features a 3.0-liter, 230-horsepower inline six-cylinder engine with Valvetronic technology. Fitted to the 335i Cabriolet model is a twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder with 300 horsepower aided by a direct injection system for added flexibility.
