Canadian Touring: Victory for Marc-Antoine Camirand

Marc-Antoine Camirand, who was born in nearby St. Leonard d’Aston and knows the Trois-Rivières track by heart, captured victory Saturday in the first race of the Castrol Canadian Touring Championship at the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières.

Camirand, driving a BMW Z3, started the race from pole position and led all 23 laps en route to victory.

Sasha Anis, on Hyundai Genesis Coupe, took second place in front of Gary Kwok who took the start in 11th place in an Acura CSX.

’s Nigel heron, who drives a Lombardi Honda Civci Si in Trois-Rivières, qualified 10th and finished fifth behind Bob Attrell and Benjamin Distaulo.

Anthony Rapone, driving a Honda Civic Si, won the race in the Touring category, claiming 17th place overall.

The second race of the week-end will be held on Sunday morning.
