NISSAN ADDS MAXIMA PRODUCTION TO SMYRNA, TENNESSEE

Nissan today announced that production of a new Nissan Maxima performance sedan will begin at the Nissan North America assembly plant in Smyrna, Tenn., in January 2003. This decision will bring the manufacture of its benchmark-setting sedan to its largest market. The addition of the Maxima to Smyrna is part of Nissan's worldwide aim to build cars and trucks as close as possible to the markets in which they are sold. The strategy will help reduce the company's exposure to currency fluctuations and will contribute to lasting, profitable growth for Nissan globally.
