Similar to how malicious spyware or computer viruses can be thwarted by installing antivirus and anti-spy software, and made even safer with a firewall and router, there are things that we can do to make it difficult for the antisocial to take our prized cars, trucks, vans, SUVs and motorcycles.

Anti-theft devices aren't necessarily foolproof, of course, but they'll often stop the amateur dead in his tracks and cause the professional to look for easier prey elsewhere.
