Lexus LC500
It was for years nearly impossible to mention the word Lexus without eliciting yawns. The company’s cars were as dull as they were reliable – and since they were extremely reliable, well, that meant the dullness could be downright sleep-inducing. Recent years have seen the company attempt a change in direction by adopting a much more dynamic esthetic stance for its models, especially with the introduction of a highly impressive arched front grille.
The carmaker also sought to develop models with a sportier disposition, but nothing that really compares with the new LC500, a car whose contours are downright spectacular. The car features an all-new architecture with rear-wheel drive that is totally distinct from any other Lexus model, and its sensational looks are backed up by a 5.0L V8 lurking under the hood. The engine can produce up to 468 HP and is linked to a 10-speed transmission, another first for Lexus. The power may not match that offered by other super cars, but the LC500’s road handling compensates amply. One of the nice surprises of 2017.
