ChargePoint will invest up to $20 million toward the deployment of a network of high-speed charging stations across the U.S. as part of public-private partnerships. These stations, located along main highways, will help accelerate sales of electric vehicles.

The announcement was made by the U.S. government as it unveiled a new initiative to promote EV charging infrastructure nationwide.

"Today's White House announcement demonstrates that our nation's leadership understands that the future of transportation in this country is electric," said Pasquale Romano, CEO of ChargePoint. "At ChargePoint, we support this vision and believe that we need a network of charging stations in our communities and along our nation's interstate highways. That's why we're committing to investing $20 million for the development and deployment of this network."

This accelerated green shift also includes cleaner production facilities. For example, GM’s Orion Assembly plant that builds the Chevrolet Bolt EV ranks as the 8th largest user of green power generated onsite in the U.S. among the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Green Power Partnership Partners.

Over half of the plant is powered by methane captured from decomposing trash in a nearby landfill. It saves $1 million a year by using renewable energy including solar power.
