Besides the Convert-A-Cab and Midgate systems, Avalance has a rear window that comes out. "This creates an open-air driving experience and helps accommodate taller cargo, such as a quad-wheeler or motorcycle," says Ritter.
It also has a lockable tailgate made out of a composite material that's lightweight, rustproof and highly dent-and scratch-resistant, says Ritter. "The one-piece inner panel has a tough, grained surface," he explains, and "Virtually any scratches inside the tailgate can be polished out with a silicone cleaner. The outer panel, also made of durable composite material, gives Avalanche a classy appearance."
The truck's tailgate gets what Ritter calls an "ergonomically designed handle" and a latch-and-lock system that is "extremely easy to use." For added convenience, the tailgate uses the same key as the vehicle's doors and its removal requires tools.
Ritter says the three-piece cargo cover helps convert the back end of Avalanche in a variety of configurations and can be easily stored on board the vehicle.It's also lightweight, he says, making removal quick and easy for just one person.
