In a move that stands to place the Chevrolet brand squarely in the sights of value minded business owners, Chevrolet has created a commercial use
vehicle that combines space, versatility and customizability with fuel economy at around 30 MPG.
Chevrolets HHR lineup will be expanded to include a Panel version which carries windowless side panels and rear cargo doors instead of conventional doors. The flat rear floor allows more than 57 cubic feet of cargo space, while another 6 cubic feet are available under the floor in a covered compartment. The HHR is designed after a 1949 Suburban, a machine that also offered a Panel variant which became an essential tool for small businesses.
Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager says "It's great for delivery companies and other small businesses, but we think auto enthusiasts will love it too, as it gives them a large canvas on which to express their individuality."
The model will be offered in both LS and LT trim levels and powered by either a 2.2 litre engine with 149 horsepower or a 2.4 litre engine with 175 horsepower.
HHR Panel production will start in the first quarter of 2007.
