Best of all, this is a concept Alfa is actually going to build. Alfa says the 4C will be on sale in 2012 as part of a global growth plan. Expect it to compete with models like the Porsche Boxster, Nissan 370Z and various machines from Lotus. Alfa’s affordable new ‘halo’ car won’t be cheap when it hits showrooms on our shores, though it should be notably more affordable than competing high-end German models.
That’s a ways off just yet—and for now, the 4C GTA is confined to the felt ropes and sodium vapor lighting of the Geneva motor show. While there, the matte-colored concept was inspected by countless fans who noted plenty of detailed sculpting, slim A-pillars, integrated air vents to feed the engine compartment, and of course, the trademark Alfa grille. Large, round taillamps call the 8C Competizione to mind, while the dual-outlet exhaust pipes and large alloy wheels with low-profile tires hint at the underlying performace. Ya know-- if the body didn’t get the point across.
