Inside, the concept’s four-person cockpit featured plenty of knee room, heavily-bolstered front sport seats and an overall light and airy feel. A three-dimensional instrument cluster, high quality sound system and various aviation-inspired design elements helped the A3 Sedan execute an exciting, involving and driver-centric atmosphere.
High-tech, too. In fact, the concept previewed the next-generation MMI infotainment system that will soon debut in production Audi models. In-vehicle internet services were on board, as were iPad holders mounted to the backs of the front headrests.
If and when the A3 sedan goes on sale on our shores, it could be standard with VW Group’s 2.0 Litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and may even be available in a front-drive configuration like the current A3. An ‘RS3’ model would be the most likely candidate for the 408-horsepower turbo engine. No word on whether Audi will include a built-in radar detector.
It’s yet unclear if Canadians will get to buy the A3 Sedan-- though if so, the model could hit dealer lots in 2012 as a 2013 model.
