From the company that invented "Zoom Zoom" came the CX-7: a funky looking crossover for drivers that don't want to loose out on performance, agility and fun just because they need a larger family oriented vehicle.
With a racy look, turbocharged engine and sporty handling, some shoppers may be thinking "sports car" in the back of their minds, as opposed to safe family hauler.
But, no compromises exist here. Recently, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration tested the CX-7's crash performance in both frontal and side impact crash tests. The CX-7 earned the highest possible rating of five stars in both tests.
Front impact tests determined that in a 35 mile-per-hour head-on collision, belted in front occupants would have a 10 percent or less chance of serious injury.
The side impact testing sees a barrier weighing more than 3000 lbs. impacting the front of the vehicle, simulating an intersection-type collision. The 5-star rating achieved here indicates a chance of 5 percent or less that a serious injury would occur.
It's not every day when safety and performance are fused in such a way for drivers and their families, though the resulting fun and peace of mind are sure to find their way into many driveways.
