Tomahawk is Unfortunately a Display Only Superbike

It would have been a sin if Dodge had decided just to let its radical Tomahawk concept fade away into the history books as the most powerful motorcycle to ever grace the motor show circuit, let alone the planet.

Nine months after literally making a loud noise at its Detroit auto show launch, DaimlerChrylser has announced its 500-hp 8.3-L Viper V10 powered monstrosity will live on as a very limited production superbike.

Each four-wheel, single-passenger example will be hand-built, ten in total, and sold on page 61 of the exclusive Neiman Marcus Christmas book for a cool CAD$733,750 (USD$555,000) - unofficially the most expensive Dodge vehicle to ever be produced.

The 505 cubic inch engine is integrated into the Tomahawk's monocoque chassis and billet aluminum frame, producing a robust 525 lb-ft of rear-wheel torque. Or more accurately, rear wheels, being that the Tomahawk features two wheels out back and duals up front, along with a unique dual center hub steering mechanism for what is reportedly impressive traction.

While the 10 Tomahawks will officially only end up being used for nothing more that conversation pieces in the lobbies of top-tier multinational corporations, or the living rooms of extremely wealthy enthusiasts, the running prototype's estimated 0 to 100 km/h sprint of 2.5 seconds and theoretical top-speed exceeding 500 km/h would make a tempting day-to-day stress reliever if only it were more than a mockup. In reality the reproduction won't be fully operational and, even if modified to run, cannot be legally operated on public roads.
