Norbert Haug, Mercedes-Benz's motorsport boss has confirmed that former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher will drive a C-Coupé car in DTM next year.
Schumacher has been competing in the popular touring car championship since 2008, and next year will be his fifth in the series.
Between now and the start of the 2012 season, Schumacher will be heavily involved in the development and testing programme for the new DTM AMG Mercedes C-Coupé. HWA AG began work on the new Mercedes-Benz DTM car in June 2010 and the first test of the C-Coupé took place in early September 2011 at the Lausitzring with Gary Paffett.
Ralf Schumacher drove the car for the first time at the same circuit between 12-13 October and, before the end of the year, he will complete another test in the new C-Coupé.
Meanwhile, Audi will showcase its brand new A5 DTM at the DTM finale at Hockenheim this weekend.
A month after its unveiling at the Frankfurt International Motor Show the Audi A5 DTM will make its first public appearance on a DTM weekend. Audi factory driver Tom Kristensen will present the new 460-horsepower race car for the 2012 season to the fans at Hockenheim.
The eight-time Le Mans winner and former DTM racer will be driving a show lap in the brand new coupe before and after the DTM race on Sunday.
