The Ingolstadt firm took its 2012 LMP1 challenger to Florida’s Sebring International Raceway for testing, ahead of the upcoming endurance season.
The prototype has already gone through a battery of tests, but only behind closed doors. Saturday marked its first public appearance.
2011 Le Mans winners Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer are first in line to put the new car through its paces. Next in line are Audi veterans Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish, waiting for their turn at the wheel.
Sebring’s bright sunshine and rough concrete laid out the perfect testing conditions for the German manufacturer, specially since FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and American Le Mans Series (ALMS) have set the venue as their season opener on March 17th.
