The statesman.com web site from Austin, Texas has posted an aerial photo that shows the progress is well underway for the construction of the new Formula 1 circuit that will welcome the return of a U.S. Grand Prix.
The statesman.com says that Richard Suttle Jr., an Austin attorney who has been representing the organizers of the race, recently took the photo from his personal aircraft.
The shot, taken from the west and looking east, shows where crews have been grading the site along Farm to Market Road 812. North on the photo has been approximated.
Suttle said Tuesday that the layout for the track has been cleared.
Work at the site began in late December but has ramped up in the recent weeks.
Organizers say they plan to have the track ready for the Formula 1 Grand Prix by June of 2012, though a date for the Austin race is scheduled to be announced later this year by the FIA.
